9" Moon Bowl in D#

- Our hand hammered "Moon" Bowls are beautiful pieces with deep plucked engravings. The saying on the bowls is "Om Mani Padme Hum" in Sanskrit. This is a very popular phrase that also shows up on many of our engraved bowls, and one common interpretation is "The jewel is in the lotus," signifying that what we seek is already inside of us, and as the lotus brings forth beauty from the muddy pond, so too can we.

- The name arises from the popular (but unfortunately false) claim that they are only made under the light of a full moon to justify highly inflated prices. These are wonderful bowls in their own right, and we have curated a selection of high quality, great sounding pieces at more affordable prices.

- This heirloom quality singing bowl is made from bell metal bronze, the best sounding metal in the world. Unlike traditional bronze, bell metal bronze has nearly double the tin concentration. The higher tin-to-copper ratio increases the rigidity of the metal, creating more resonant and full sounding bowls. Regular bronze and brass bowls simply cannot compete on the quality of both sound and vibration.

- Each item included in your purchase, from the bowl to the mallets, cushions and wrapping paper is handmade in Nepal. Our mallets are made with renewable, wild-crafted hardwood cuttings from the native Sal tree and handmade wool. Our bowls are wrapped in handmade lokta paper, gathered from a renewable reed plant. Our cushions are sewn by women’s protective collectives. Your purchase helps support the traditional arts.

- To play: the wool mallet is best for striking the bowl, while the leather mallet is best for playing around the rim. You can bring out a higher tone by playing around the rim with the wood end of the leather mallet.

- You will receive the exact bowl recorded here - zero surprises.

The Perfect Zero Tech Addition

Take a break from technology and fast-paced life. Himalayan Bowls are all-natural relaxation tools, needing just a few minutes of play to brighten your day.

Unparalleled Craftsmanship

The artisans we work with continue to perfect ancient techniques. Our new singing bowls are starting to rival mid-level antiques in sound quality.

Experience Before You Buy

Shopping for singing bowls online can be stressful. Browse our selection & hear exactly what each bowl sounds like before purchasing – eliminating the uncertainty in the process.

Most Singing Bowls Sold Today are Mass-Produced with Lower Quality Metals. Not Himalayan Bowls.

Cheaper metals lead to both lower quality sound and overall experience with singing bowls. Authentic singing bowls are produced by hand with bell metal bronze instead of by machine with brass. Our singing bowls are individually handcrafted in Nepal to ensure premium-grade sound and construction quality and to continue the ancient practice passed down through generations of Nepalese artistans. Experience the difference today.

Embrace the 1,000 year-old meditation & relaxation techniques used by the sacred Tibetan Monks

Tune Into a 5,000-Year-Old Metalworking Tradition

The first bronze bowls were made around 3,000 BC in Persia and subsequently spread through Asia. Our singing bowls are crafted through an ancient process called annealing, where the molecular structure of bell metal bronze discs is altered by repeatedly heating, hammering and cooling until they are transformed into the singing bowls you see today. While it is unknown when Buddhists first began using singing bowls, several Buddhist traditions continue to use singing bowls in meditation practice to this day.

How to Use Your Himalayan Bowl

Your singing bowl comes with a cushion and 2 mallets – designed to produce the vibrations it was crafted to make. Use the mallets to strike the side of the bowl, and consider applying gentle pressure by circling around the rim.

Meditators love to use the cadence and rhythm to signal the start & stop of their meditation session, providing a peaceful guidance throughout their routine. Use the warm tone, gentle harmonics and soothing vibrations to clear your mind & become more fully present.
